Killing Eve producers are reportedly developing a prequel series centred around Fiona Shaw's character.

Killing Eve producers are reportedly developing a prequel show centred around Fiona Shaw's character Carolyn Martens.

The acclaimed spy drama, which stars Jodie Comer and Sandra Oh, is coming to an end this weekend with the conclusion of its fourth season.

The possibility of a spinoff show has previously been hinted at by producers, and now The Sun says that they have settled on the idea of a series charting Carolyn's admission to MI6.

"In many ways Carolyn was a bit of curveball choice for a prequel, but in other ways she was an obvious choice," a source told the newspaper.

"The creators could have gone for Villanelle or Eve, but Carolyn provides a different take on things.

"Bosses felt that Killing Eve had to come to an end but its spirit should live on in a new form, and this is the project they're focusing their efforts on now.

"It's in the early stages of development and the finished series is months, if not years, away. But at least fans have something to look forward to."

The final episode of Killing Eve airs this Sunday in the US on BBC America and will be made available on iPlayer in the UK from 6am on Monday.
