Hollyoaks still a month away from return to filming amid race row

Hollyoaks will not resume filming until July 13, Channel 4 confirms.

Hollyoaks will not resume filming of new episodes until July 13, Channel 4 has confirmed.

The news comes amid reports that several cast members have threatened to quit the soap following cast member Rachel Adedeji's allegations of behind-the-scenes racism.

Channel 4 has enough episodes in the bank to ensure that it avoids going off air, so much so that it can afford to wait another month before having to shoot new material.

The broadcaster has previously said that the soap will continue to air twice a week until September, at which point it will ramp up to four episodes a week before going back to five episodes a week in 2021.

Hollyoaks will be one of the last UK soaps to return to work, with Emmerdale having resumed filming in May, shortly before Coronation Street, while EastEnders will get going again before the end of the month.
