Angus Castle-Doughty joins Hollyoaks playing Eric, the estranged brother of Tony and Verity.

Showtrial actor Angus Castle-Doughty has been cast in Hollyoaks as Eric, the estranged brother of Tony (Nick Pickard) and Verity (Eva O'Hara).

Described as "socially awkward", Eric struggles to integrate into village life when he arrives, but Verity takes the lead in introducing him to the fellow residents. There's also the question of how Tony will react to meeting his brother for the first time.

"From the moment I started, I've felt really welcomed into the fold," said Castle-Doughty. "Eva and I clicked straight away - we've had many discussions about our characters' relationship.

"Eric's upcoming storyline is topical, important, and one which hasn't been covered in soap before, and we are working really hard to do it justice."

Eric's first appearance will come during E4's first-look episode on Monday, March 7.
