Piers Morgan teases "big announcement"

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan teases "a big announcement" later today.

Good Morning Britain host Piers Morgan has promised fans a "big announcement" later today.

The 55-year-old is in the first week of his seven-week summer break from the breakfast show and jetted out to Saint-Tropez in the South of France earlier this week.

Posting on Twitter first thing today, Morgan teased: "I'll be making a big announcement at midday. Watch this space."

Followers were quick to speculate that he would be confirming his departure from GMB, although he is contracted to host the show until the end of 2021 and there are no signs that he will step down anytime soon.

Since 2009 he has fronted Piers Morgan's Life Stories for ITV, however, and there has been no word yet on this year's series, so the announcement could relate to guests signed up for the new run.

Alternatively, broadcaster UKTV, which has channels including Dave, W and Gold, has also teased an announcement at midday today, leaving open the possibility that he has signed up to present a new show for one of their stations.
