UK select ABBA's Waterloo as favourite ever Eurovision entry

The British public vote ABBA's 'Waterloo' as the best ever entry to the Eurovision Song Contest.

The British public have voted ABBA's 'Waterloo' as the best ever entry at the Eurovision Song Contest.

This year's event was due to take place tonight in Rotterdam but was called off due to the coronavirus pandemic, which has killed more than 160,000 people across Europe so far.

In its place, the BBC broadcast a special programme, Eurovision: Come Together, which presented a shortlist of 19 classic performances and asked the public to vote for their favourite.

'Waterloo' - Sweden's entry from 1974 - came out on top, beating off the likes of Loreen's 'Euphoria', Katrina and the Waves' 'Love Shine A Light' and Netta's 'Toy'.
