Romanian broadcaster TVR could reportedly pull out of Eurovision 2024 due to funding issues.

Romania could reportedly be forced to withdraw from next year's Eurovision Song Contest for funding reasons.

The country made its debut in the contest in 1994 and has since appeared 23 times - managing a best finish of third place in 2005 and 2010.

According to local paper Libertatea, broadcaster TVR paid €400k (£344k) to take part in this year's contest - including a €180k (£155k) participation fee, travel, accommodation and staffing costs.

As a public broadcaster funded mostly by the government, TVR must keep a tight restraint on its budget, meaning that Romania may have to skip Eurovision 2024 - due to be held in Malmo, Sweden.

One alternative suggested by local media is that TVR could look to partner with a record label, which would represent the competing artist, and split the costs.

This year's Romanian entry, Theodor Andrei, failed to qualify for the grand final having finished 15th out of 16th in the semi-final.
