All 41 countries from Eurovision 2020 to return in 2021

Eurovision confirms that all 41 countries due to participate at the cancelled 2020 contest will return in Rotterdam next year.

Eurovision has confirmed that all 41 countries who were due to participate in this year's contest will be returning in 2021.

The 2020 edition was called off due to coronavirus but organisers have insisted that Eurovision will go ahead in Rotterdam in 2021 come what may, with multiple scenarios being worked on to comply with whatever COVID-19 restrictions are in force at the time.

"It is fantastic that the same 41 countries that would have taken part this year still want to come to the Netherlands in May 2021," said Sietse Bakker, Eurovision's executive producer.

"This demonstrates their confidence in our country still being able to organise a successful Eurovision Song Contest in Rotterdam next year, after the cancellation of the 2020 edition.

"We have set the bar high to create 3 amazing live shows for an audience of 180 million people, even in these challenging times.

"To achieve this, we are working on an extensive protocol that guarantees the health of employees, participants, the press and visitors as much as possible."

Eurovision 2021 is due to take place between May 18 and May 22.
