Emmerdale boss Jane Hudson hints that a former character may make a return next summer.

Emmerdale executive producer Jane Hudson has hinted that a former character may make a comeback next summer.

Some notable characters have been killed off by the soap in 2022 - including Faith (Sally Dexter), Liv (Isobel Steele), Al (Michael Wildman) and Harriet (Katherine Dow Blyton).

Several new characters will join the village in the coming weeks, including Cain's brother Caleb (Will Ash) and a new 'manny' called Nicky (Lewis Cope), but Hudson has suggested that at least one familiar face may reappear.

"We are busy working on summer storylines and I always like to have a summer spectacular," she told press including The Sun. "So if I say that, I have to come up with something now!"

Asked about returning characters, she replied: "Ooh! I can't tell you! I can't say!

"We're working on June storylines at the minute and I thought [about a return] and thought: 'Viewers would love that!'"

Emmerdale continues weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV1.
