Ross Kemp reveals that he is open to returning to EastEnders as Grant Mitchell.

Ross Kemp has opened the door to a future return to EastEnders as Grant Mitchell.

The actor played the iconic character - hardman brother of Phil Mitchell (Steve McFadden) - between 1990 and 1999 but has returned for guest appearances since, most recently in 2016 for the death of Grant's mother Peggy Mitchell (Barbara Windsor).

Since leaving the soap Kemp has become known for hosting hard-hitting documentaries, but in a new interview he has suggested that he is keen to return to his acting roots.

"I miss acting sometimes. I miss the jokes and the camaraderie," he is quoted as saying by the Daily Star.

"You can never say you'll never do something again, so it would be remiss of me to say I'd never go back to EastEnders.

"I'm not in a position where I can turn down work, whatever it may be. And variety is the spice of life, especially at my age."

Kemp will next be seen as the host of a new daytime BBC quiz show, The Bridge Of Lies, which will air from the new year.
