Maddy Hill quits as Nancy Carter on EastEnders, with her final scenes airing suddenly in tonight's episode.

Maddy Hill has left EastEnders for a second time, with her final scenes as Nancy Carter airing in tonight's episode.

The actress reprised her role as the daughter of Mick (Danny Dyer) and Linda (Kellie Bright) a year ago, having originally appeared on the soap between 2014 and 2016.

In recent weeks Nancy has been struggling with her mother's alcoholism - and her boyfriend Zack (James Farrar)'s one-night stand with Sam Mitchell (Kim Medcalf) proved to be the final straw.

Nancy secured herself a new job in Manchester working with a friend of her brother Johnny in a gym, and abruptly left Walford as Mick and half-sister Frankie (Rose Ayling-Ellis) waved her off.

Hill said: "It's been great revisiting Nancy and the Square over the past year but it felt like the right time to move on for now.

"I already miss everyone and feel so grateful to work with people I have so much love for."

A BBC spokesperson said: "We wish Maddy all the very best for the future."

Hill joins a long line of cast members leaving the soap this year, with the likes of Dyer, Ricky Champ (Stuart), Dayle Hudson (Peter) and Danielle Harold (Lola) all due to depart in the coming months.
