EastEnders star James Bye sings the praises of the soap's upcoming Christmas episodes.

EastEnders star James Bye has described this year's upcoming Christmas episodes of the soap as "massive" and "one of the best".

Earlier this year, a surprise flashforward scene gave a first look at Christmas Day as six of Walford's matriarchs gathered around a mystery dead male in the Vic.

Multiple men are in the frame to be the murder victim, including Theo Hawthorne (William Ellis), who has found himself at loggerheads with Bye's character Martin for stalking his ex-wife Stacey (Lacey Turner).

"We've started filming the lead up to it and it's up there with one of the best Christmasses that I'm in," Bye, who has played Martin since 2014, told The Mirror.

"It is definitely up there with all the Christmasses I've read, it's definitely up there. It will be a massive Christmas."

He added: "The guys behind the story who have come up with this, they've just walloped it.

"They know what they're doing they've brought it back to what people want from Christmas. They want a big EastEnders Christmas."

EastEnders continues Monday to Thursday at 7.30pm on BBC One and from 6am on iPlayer.
