Former EastEnders star Samantha Womack reveals that her treatment for breast cancer has been a success.

Former EastEnders star Samantha Womack has revealed that she is now free from cancer.

The 50-year-old revealed in August that she had been diagnosed with breast cancer and immediately began a course of treatment, including having a lumpectomy.

Speaking to OK! magazine, she said: "I just feel really thankful and really grateful that I caught it when I did.

"I feel very thankful for my life. I know that sounds crazy, but it's almost like I can see the beauty in everything now – like everything feels special.

"I keep bursting into tears, because I'm happy.

"I think it [going through cancer] shifts your perspective and suddenly everything feels really important and really vital and you suddenly just appreciate everything."

Womack starred as Ronnie Mitchell from 2007 until 2017, when the character and her sister Roxy (Rita Simons) were both killed off in a shock storyline.
