An EastEnders spokeswoman denies reports that Rose Ayling-Ellis could leave the soap after winning Strictly Come Dancing.

An EastEnders spokeswoman has denied reports that Rose Ayling-Ellis could leave the soap following her victory on Strictly Come Dancing over the weekend.

The 27-year-old made history as the first deaf contestant to win the show, lifting the glitterball trophy on Saturday night with her professional partner Giovanni Pernice.

Ayling-Ellis took extended leave from the soap to take part in Strictly and is expected to be back filming in early 2022, but a report in The Sun has claimed that there are now fears among cast and crew that she could leave in the wake of her victory.

A spokeswoman was quick to quash the rumours, however, saying: "There is no truth in this.

"Rose has no intention to quit EastEnders and is very much looking forward to filming again in the New Year."

Ayling-Ellis's character Frankie - daughter of Danny Dyer's Mick Carter - was last seen on screen in early November, leaving the square after telling Mick that she needed a break to clear her head.
