The storyline that will see Lola Pearce leave EastEnders is supposedly revealed.

Lola Pearce will be diagnosed with an inoperable brain tumour in EastEnders in the coming months, according to a report.

Earlier this year it emerged that actress Danielle Harold would be leaving the soap after producers took the decision to kill off her character, who has appeared on and off since 2011.

The Sun says that Lola will soon receive the devastating news that she has a brain tumour and there is nothing doctors can do to save her.

In the final months of her life Lola will get back together with Jay (Jamie Borthwick), who will nurse her through as the disease takes hold and ultimately claims her life.

A source said: "Chris (Clenshaw, executive producer) has been working on this idea for the character of Lola for several months now. You can't rush this type of storyline as it needs to be handled with care.

"As always, EastEnders are working with a charity to ensure it's shown in the most sensitive and accurate way possible. It's going to be very emotional."

Other characters due to depart Albert Square later this year include Stuart Highway (Ricky Champ), Peter Beale (Dayle Hudson) and Mick Carter (Danny Dyer).
