Legendary Doctor Who composer Murray Gold returns to the show for the second Russell T Davies era.

Legendary Doctor Who composer Murray Gold has returned to the show for Russell T Davies's second stint in charge.

This November the show returns for three special episodes to celebrate its 60th anniversary, with David Tennant back as The Doctor, albeit a new iteration, alongside old companion Donna Noble (Catherine Tate).

Ncuti Gatwa then becomes the next Doctor in time for a festive special, with a full new series then following on in early 2024.

All of the new episodes will be soundtracked by Gold, who previously worked on Who from 2005 to 2013, creating iconic scores including 'Rose's Theme', 'Doomsday', 'The Daleks' and 'The Cybermen', in addition to reversioning the iconic theme tune.

Speaking about his return, Gold said: "I'm so happy to be invited back for another joyful ride in the TARDIS. I didn't think twice. Working with Russell and his team is just a pleasure."

Gold is a frequent collaborator on Davies's projects, having also worked on It's A Sin, Years and Years and Queer As Folk.
