Coronation Street's Simon Gregson reveals that he is working on plans to host a motoring show.

Coronation Street star Simon Gregson has revealed that he is in discussions about hosting a new motoring programme.

The 47-year-old, who has appeared as Steve McDonald on the cobbles since 1989, is a big car lover and has previously described hosting Top Gear as his dream role.

"I'm very good friends with Mike Brewer and Paul Cowland and Drew Pritchard, who all do car shows, of course," he said during an appearance on Ireland AM.

"And we're actually in talks at the moment about possibly getting something off the ground. So fingers crossed."

Away from Corrie, Gregson appeared on last year's edition of I'm A Celebrity... Get Me Out Of Here!, finishing as the runner-up.
