Former Coronation Street actress Catherine Tyldesley is reportedly the new favourite to join Celebrity Juice as a team captain.

The ITV2 panel series is in need of a new captain after Holly Willoughby decided to quit the show after 12 years earlier this month.

A number of names have already been linked with the role, including Michelle Keegan, Emily Atack and John Barrowman, but according to The Sun, Tyldesley is in pole position after impressing in previous guest appearances.

"Cath is brilliant fun, naturally very sharp and witty, and already has chemistry with Keith as they're pals," a source told the newspaper. "She's also got a girl next door appeal, much like Holly.

"Producers have got a short list of around eight stars, and Cath is very much up. For her part, she has told pals she would be up for it."

Tyldesley spent more than seven years playing feisty Eva Price on Corrie before departing the cobbles in August 2018.
