Daniel Brocklebank signs new Coronation Street contract

Daniel Brocklebank confirms that he has signed a one-year contract extension with Coronation Street.

Daniel Brocklebank has revealed that he has signed a new one-year deal keeping him on Coronation Street until at least the end of 2021.

The 40-year-old made his Weatherfield debut as Billy Mayhew at the end of 2014 and has since become a key character on the cobbles, tackling storylines including drugs abuse as well as homosexuality in the church.

Billy is currently heavily involved in the storyline that will see his ex-boyfriend Todd return to the street after three years on the run.

Speaking to the Daily Star about his new deal, Brocklebank said: "I have just signed up for my seventh year on Corrie. It's fantastic. It's nice to get back to some normality."

The actor is the latest Corrie star to commit their future to the soap, following on from new deals for Andy Whyment (Kirk) and Alan Halsall (Tyrone).
