Netflix reports its best Q4 since 2020, with 13.1 million subscribers added in the run-up to Christmas.

Netflix added 13.1 million subscribers in the final quarter of 2023 - the streamer's best Q4 since 2020.

The impressive figures were driven by a clampdown on password-sharing and a growth in uptake for the new cheap 'with ads' subscription package.

Netflix now boasts 260.28 million subscribers worldwide - the market leader, ahead of Amazon's Prime Video on 200 million and Disney+ with 150.2m.

In a statement to investors, the company said: "We believe there is plenty of room for growth ahead as streaming expands, and our north star remains the same: to thrill members with our entertainment.

"If we can continue to improve Netflix faster than the competition, we'll have an increasingly valuable business – for consumers, creators and shareholders."

The news comes as the streaming service is due to become the new global home for WWE programming and events from January 2025.
