GB News confirms Andrew Neil's exit
GB News announces that Andrew Neil is stepping down as channel chairman and host of his own show.

GB News has confirmed reports that Andrew Neil is stepping down as channel chairman and host of his own primetime show.

The 72-year-old presented just two weeks of his self-titled show after GB News launched in mid-June but has been on an extended summer break ever since.

The veteran journalist, who is also chairman of The Spectator, will remain involved with the channel but as "a regular guest commentator" on various shows.

In statement, he said: "I am sorry to go but I have concluded it's time to reduce my commitments on a number of fronts. Over the summer I've had time to reflect on my extensive portfolio of interests and decided it was time to cut back.

"I wish GB News well in continuing to fulfil its founding promise and mission to reach audiences currently underserved by existing news broadcasters."

A channel spokesperson said: "Andrew is without doubt one of the finest journalists and interviewers in this country. GB News thanks him for his 12 months of leadership, wisdom and advice and we wish him well."

The future of the 8pm weekday slot is currently unconfirmed, although Colin Brazier has been hosting Neil's show during his absence.
