Channel 4 takes the coveted Channel of the Year title at this year's Edinburgh TV Awards.

Channel 4 has scooped the top honour of Channel of the Year at this year's Edinburgh TV Awards.

In a year which has seen the government confirm plans to privatise the broadcaster, the industry's key figures voted to demonstrate Channel 4's importance to the UK TV landscape with the coveted award - in addition to five other award wins.

AJ Odudu and Mo Gilligan jointly scooped the Presenter of the Year award for their work hosting the rebooted version of The Big Breakfast, while The Lateish Show With Mo Gilligan was named Best Entertainment Programme and Jodie Comer took Best Actor in a Drama for her role in the acclaimed Help.

Netflix had wins with Sex Education, which was named Best Comedy Series, and the first kiss between Charlie and Nick in Heartstopper was voted Moment of the Year.

Elsewhere, Martin Freeman's The Responder picked up Best Drama and the BBC iPlayer won Best On Demand Service.
