The upcoming seasons of Love Island, The Great British Bake Off and Britain's Got Talent hang in the balance as the coronavirus pandemic escalates.

The next seasons of Love Island, The Great British Bake Off and Britain's Got Talent are all thought to be under threat as the coronavirus disease spreads across the globe.

Popular ITV2 reality show Love Island is the most at risk of being cancelled due to the nature of the format, which leads to a lot of physical interaction between the contestants. The summer edition of the series is due to film in Mallorca from late May.

"A huge amount of work goes into Love Island and to pull everything together in a very short space of time would be near impossible," a show source told The Sun.

"Casting aside, they need to think about all the paperwork necessary, the show's insurance and all the tests that cast members must undergo."

Bake Off, meanwhile, is due to begin filming shortly ahead of an autumn transmission but the series is facing postponement due to current government guidelines on social distancing.

Earlier this week ITV confirmed that the audition shows of Britain's Got Talent will air in the coming months as planned, however the live finals - normally aired over a week in May - may now not go ahead in the same format.
