Glen Durrant collected his first PDC title as he was crowned Premier League champion after seeing off Nathan Aspinall, having earlier survived four match darts to beat Gary Anderson in their semi-final.

Durrant, who qualified for the play-offs by topping the tournament table, let slip a 6-3 lead against Anderson as his Scottish opponent reeled off six of the next seven legs to establish a 9-7 advantage.

Anderson was unable to close out the match at 9-8 and in a dramatic deciding leg, the two-time world champion missed another three match darts, allowing Durrant to prevail 10-9 at Coventry's Ricoh Arena.

Aspinall defeated reigning world champion Peter Wright 10-7 to book his place alongside Durrant in the showpiece.

The final between two players in their debut Premier League season was predictably a nip-and-tuck affair, with the first 13 legs going with the throw.

Aspinall missed five darts at a double to level at 7-7 and Durrant capitalised on his opponent's profligacy before holding his own throw with a superb 127 checkout to establish a 9-6 lead.

It proved a pivotal few minutes in the match as Durrant, a three-time BDO world champion who switched to the PDC at the start of last year, secured an 11-8 victory with minimal fuss.
