Great Britain's Joe Clarke bags gold in men's kayak final

Joe Clarke of Team GB claims the gold medal in the men's single kayak final at Rio 2016.

Great Britain's Joe Clarke has secured a gold medal for his country in the men's single kayak final at the Rio Olympics.

The canoeist's time of 88.53 seconds was just enough to top the podium, with silver medallist Peter Kauser of Slovenia 0.17 seconds off his pace.

Bronze went to Czech Jiri Prskavec, who's run was hampered when he picked up a penalty.

Clarke's feat marks Britain's first Olympic medal in the men's K1 since Campbell Walsh at Athens 2000 and Team GB's second gold at Rio 2016.
