West Ham United to take on Shakhtyor Soligorsk or Domzale in Europa League

West Ham United will face either Shakhtyor Soligorsk or Domzale in the first competitive match at the Olympic Stadium.

West Ham United will play their first competitive game in their new Olympic Stadium home against either Shakhtyor Soligorsk or Domzale in the third round of Europa League qualifying.

The Hammers, whose route into Europe was secured by virtue of a seventh-place finish in the Premier League last season, are given what appears to be a favourable two-legged tie.

Soligorsk, who play their domestic football in the Belarusian top flight, are currently locked at 1-1 against Slovenian outfit Domzale after Thursday evening's opening match at the Stroitel Stadium.

A derby showdown of sorts between Connah's Quay Nomads and St Patrick's Athletic, representatives of Wales and Ireland respectively, is also on the cards should both sides progress. Connah's Quay currently trail FK Vojvodina 1-0, while St Patrick's are tied at 1-1

Northern Ireland's Cliftonville let a two-goal lead slip away in their meeting with AEK Larnaca to head into the return game 3-2 down, but should they recover they will face Spartak Moscow.

In terms of the Scottish Premiership contingent, Hibernian - down 1-0 to Danish side Brondby - are in line to face Hertha Berlin and Hearts will challenge FC Krasnodar of Russia.

Slovenian opposition Maribor or Levski Sofia of Bulgaria are next up for Aberdeen, meanwhile, as they lead Ventspils 3-0 and are well on course for the next round.
