Gareth Bale's agent dismisses speculation that the Welshman could return to Tottenham Hotspur, calling the rumours "crap".

The agent of Real Madrid winger Gareth Bale has rubbished rumours that the Welshman could return to Tottenham Hotspur on deadline day.

The Welshman continues to endure an uncertain future at the Bernabeu, seven months on from an aborted big-money transfer to the Chinese Super League.

In recent months Bale has been linked with a Premier League comeback, with Manchester United and former club Spurs said to be interested.

Speculation of a move to Jose Mourinho's side has further intensified following the serious injury to Harry Kane, which has left the club scrambling around for a proven goalscorer for the next few months.

Asked about the rumours, agent Jonathan Barnett told the Daily Mail: "One word - crap!"

Los Blancos boss Zinedine Zidane has also played down the possibility of Bale leaving, telling reporters earlier today that he is "not contemplating" his exit.
