Daniel Levy's refusal to sanction moves for Romelu Lukaku and Stefan de Vrij was reportedly one of the reasons behind Antonio Conte's post-match rant on Saturday.

Daniel Levy's refusal to sanction transfers for Inter Milan duo Romelu Lukaku and Stefan de Vrij was reportedly one reason behind Antonio Conte's post-match outburst on Saturday.

The Tottenham Hotspur manager unleashed a tirade of frustration to the press after his side's 3-3 draw against Southampton at the weekend.

Conte seemingly alluded to both the owner and the players at the club as reasons why Spurs have gone so long without winning silverware.

Football Insider claim that Levy would not give the green light on deals that would have seen Lukaku and De Vrij join the club in January, to Conte's annoyance.

Having won the Serie A title in 2021 with both players playing a key role, the Italian identified both as players who could come in and turn Spurs into a title-challenging side in the Premier League.

It is alleged that Levy is only interested in signing young players who can be developed further, as opposed to Conte's mantra of signing ready-made players capable of winning silverware instantly.

The reported fallout from Conte's outburst is an expectation that he will lose his job during the upcoming international break.
