Real Madrid will reportedly not try again to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe, despite strong speculation of a move in the past.

Real Madrid will reportedly not try again to sign Paris Saint-Germain forward Kylian Mbappe.

The Spanish side have been in contact with the forward in recent years, most notably earlier this year when Mbappe signed an extension at the French club until 2025 following speculation of a move to Madrid.

According to Marca, there has been no contact between the two clubs and there will not be, as the reigning Champions League winners do not want to put their squad planning on hold again.

Furthermore, Madrid may not be able to afford the superstar's huge wages, which could reach €100m (£88.6m) per season including bonuses.

Mbappe has consistently performed in 2022 for club and country, registering 19 goals and five assists in 20 appearances for PSG this season in all competitions.

The former Monaco forward moved to 36 international goals for France during the World Cup in Qatar, including netting a hat-trick in the final, but still came up short as France lost out on penalties to Argentina.
