Carlos Ancelotti comments on rumours linking Marcos Asensio with a Real Madrid exit ahead of the final week of the transfer window.

Carlo Ancelotti has addressed rumours linking Marcos Asensio with a Real Madrid exit.

The Spaniard scored 10 goals in 31 La Liga appearances last term, but he started only 19 of those league games, while he failed to feature in the UEFA Super Cup and the club's La Liga opener.

Despite making his first appearance at the weekend against Celta Vigo as a second-half substitute, there are rumours suggesting that Asensio could leave the club before the transfer window shuts.

The 26-year-old has fallen behind the likes of Rodrygo and Federico Valverde in the pecking order, and with less than 12 months left on his current contract, Los Blancos are believed to be open to a departure.

Ancelotti, who won UEFA Men's Coach of the Year on Thursday, has commented on the speculation surrounding Asensio's future while speaking to Movistar Futbol.

As quoted by transfer expert Fabrizio Romano, Ancelotti said: "I think Asensio is looking to see if he can leave. If he doesn't leave, in September he will be 100% Real Madrid and my player."

Asensio has scored 49 goals and provided 24 assists in 236 appearances against Real Madrid, and he could be involved in Sunday's league meeting with Espanyol.
