Manchester United are allegedly in no rush to hand England international Kobbie Mainoo a new contract at the club.

Manchester United are reportedly in no rush to hand Kobbie Mainoo a new contract at the club despite the midfielder's incredible rise in recent months.

The 18-year-old penned a new contract with the Red Devils last February, with the deal running until June 2027, with the option of a further 12 months.

However, there have been claims that Mainoo is in line for a new-and-improved contract at Old Trafford, having become a key player for Erik ten Hag's side, while he is also now in line to make the England squad for Euro 2024.

The teenager made his Three Lions debut against Brazil on Saturday before being handed his first start for the national side against Belgium, and his two performances have seemingly put him firmly in England boss Gareth Southgate's plans for this summer's European Championship.

Mainoo has made 20 appearances for Man United this season, including 14 in the Premier League, and he is currently one of the first names on Ten Hag's team sheet due to his impressive form.

According to the Manchester Evening News, despite the recent speculation, Man United are relaxed when it comes to Mainoo's contract situation.

The report claims that there is no rush when it comes to a new deal for the teenager due to the length of time left on his current agreement.

Meanwhile, it is understood that there are a number of performance-related incentives in Mainoo's existing deal, meaning that his earning power has been increased due to his recent exposure at first-team level.

Mainoo had allegedly been earmarked to start the 2023-24 campaign in Man United's first XI, but he missed the early stages of the season due to an ankle injury which he picked up over the summer.

The youngster has been with Man United since the age of nine, progressing through the various youth sides at the club before making his first-team debut in early 2023.

Mainoo played 80 minutes of his side's 4-3 success over Liverpool in the FA Cup last time out, with the Red Devils booking their spot in the semi-finals of the competition.

The midfielder is again set to be in the Man United XI against Brentford on Saturday evening, providing that he has sufficiently recovered from his exertions on international duty.

However, the Red Devils could be without the services of nine first-team players for their trip to West London this weekend, including Casemiro, who suffered a muscular problem before the international break.
