Manchester United face being priced out of a move for Real Madrid's Raphael Varane this summer, according to a report.

Manchester United are reportedly facing the possibility of being priced out of a move for Real Madrid's Raphael Varane during this summer's transfer window.

The France international has seemingly been identified by the Red Devils as a leading defensive target in the current market, and it is thought that the 28-year-old is open to a move to the Premier League.

Varane only has one year left to run on his current deal at the Bernabeu, but according to ESPN, Los Blancos still value the World Cup winner in excess of £70m.

The report claims that the 20-time English champions are not prepared to meet Real Madrid's current asking price, as they are already seemingly closing in on a big-money deal for Borussia Dortmund's Jadon Sancho.

Carlo Ancelotti's side are believed to have reopened contract talks with Varane, with the La Liga giants determined not to lose both Sergio Ramos and the Frenchman ahead of next season.

The centre-back, who has also been linked with Paris Saint-Germain and Chelsea, is currently representing his country at this summer's European Championship.
