Liverpool cool their interest in Inter Milan centre-back Milan Skriniar, according to a report.

Liverpool have reportedly cooled their interest in Milan Skriniar as they are not prepared to pay the £54m that Inter Milan are demanding for the central defender.

The Reds still have serious injury problems at the back, with Joe Gomez, Virgil van Dijk and Joel Matip currently on the sidelines, forcing head coach Jurgen Klopp into a reshuffle for much of the season.

The Premier League champions continue to be linked with a number of centre-backs ahead of the January transfer window, and a recent report claimed that Skriniar was a target.

The 25-year-old fell down the pecking order at San Siro in the latter stages of last term and is no longer considered to be indispensable for the Italian outfit despite a recent run in the team.

However, according to Calciomercato, Liverpool are not prepared to meet Inter's £54m asking price and have therefore cooled their interest ahead of the opening of the window.

Skriniar, who has also previously been linked with Tottenham Hotspur, Manchester United and Manchester City, has made 10 Serie A appearances during the 2020-21 campaign.
