A report claims that Jose Mourinho will be on his way out of Manchester United in the next couple of days, even if the Red Devils beat Newcastle United on Saturday.

Manchester United's board of directors have reportedly already decided that Jose Mourinho will be sacked this weekend, regardless of their result against Newcastle United.

Speculation has been mounting over the past few days that the Portuguese could be on his way out of Old Trafford following the club's worst start to a season in 29 years.

Mourinho was expected to be given one more game to save his job, with the Red Devils playing host to strugglers Newcastle United in the Premier League on Saturday evening.

According to The Mirror, however, the 55-year-old has lost the confidence of his bosses and will not survive the next few days, even if United see off the Magpies to get their season back on track.

United sources are alleged to have told the publication that Mourinho has reached the point of no return, having alienated players, fans and staff with his divisive approach.

Tottenham Hotspur boss Mauricio Pochettino is understood to be executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward's preferred candidate to succeed Mourinho.
