Chelsea will face Championship side Middlesbrough in the EFL Cup semi-finals.

On Tuesday evening, the Blues scored a last-gasp equaliser against Newcastle United before prevailing 4-2 in the subsequent penalty shootout.

The reward for Mauricio Pochettino's side is a two-legged tie with Championship side Middlesbrough, who eased past Port Vale by a 3-0 scoreline on the same night.

Boro will host to the first leg at the Riverside Stadium, the week commencing January 8, before the reverse fixture is held at Stamford Bridge.

In the other last-four tie, Liverpool will go up against fellow Premier League outfit Fulham after cruising to a 5-1 triumph over West Ham United on Wednesday.

Fulham, who got the better of Everton in a penalty shootout on Tuesday, will travel to Anfield for the first leg, with the second game being staged at Craven Cottage.
