Arsenal striker Gabriel Jesus makes club history with his brace in Saturday's 4-2 Premier League win over Leicester City at the Emirates.

Arsenal new boy Gabriel Jesus has already written his name into the club's history books with his brace against Leicester City in Saturday's 4-2 Premier League win.

The former Manchester City man was in prolific form for Mikel Arteta's side in pre-season, but he did not have a goal to show for his efforts against Crystal Palace last week.

However, Jesus ran the show against Brendan Rodgers's side at the Emirates and was involved in all four goals on the day, scoring two himself before adding two assists to his tally.

The 25-year-old opened the scoring with a delicate lob over the reach of Danny Ward in the 23rd minute before adding a second with a close-range header following a corner before the half-time whistle blew.

Leicester threatened a stunning comeback on two occasions through William Saliba's own goal and James Maddison's finish from a tight angle, but Jesus set up Granit Xhaka and Gabriel Martinelli to complete the job for Arsenal.

By netting a brace in North London, Jesus became the first-ever Arsenal player to score at least two goals on their Premier League home debut for the Gunners.

Furthermore, Jesus also became just the second Arsenal man to score and assist twice in one Premier League game after Theo Walcott did so in a 7-3 win against Newcastle United in the 2012-13 season.

Speaking to Premier League Productions after the win, Jesus affirmed that he was "so happy" with his and his team's performance in that six goal thriller, saying: "I am so happy, we played so good against a tough opponent. We know the quality of Leicester, they have good runners in behind."

However, the Brazilian admitted that he was slightly miffed not to get his hat-trick on the day, as he squandered opportunities to take home the match ball in the first and second half.

"For sure, I work all day every day to score goals, I think the ball from Aaron [Ramsdale] was good, but when I went to shoot the defender came back quick," Jesus added.

"After I had another chance so I'm a little bit sad because of this but I'm so happy, not just for the goals but for the way the team are playing.

"I was not unhappy at Manchester City, I just wanted to play and the club and manager understand. I come here, train everyday, me and Eddie [Nketiah] he has a lot of quality and confidence to play as well. Arsenal have two good strikers."

Jesus was also hailed as "world-class" by losing manager Rodgers in his post-match press conference, telling reporters: "When you bring in a world class player it's not just what he brings to the team but the confidence he brings to everyone else."

Arsenal will aim to maintain their 100% start to the new Premier League season when they travel to newly-promoted Bournemouth - who lost 4-0 to champions Manchester City - next Saturday evening.
