'Jaws' star Lee Fierro dies, aged 91

Jaws actress Lee Fierro passes away due to coronavirus-related reasons.

Jaws actress Lee Fierro has died at the age of 91 from complications relating to coronavirus.

One of the film's most iconic scenes sees Fierro's character Mrs Kintner slap Chief Brody (Roy Scheider) in the face after her young son is eaten by the great white.

According to Variety, Fierro passed away at an assisted living facility on Sunday after moving there three years ago to be closer to her family.

"I loved her and she was an inspiration to me," said close friend MJ Munafo. "She was a huge presence on the Island theater community. She worked with hundreds of young people who just adored her."

Fierro reprised her role as Mrs Kintner for a cameo in the final film in the Jaws franchise, Jaws: The Revenge, in 1987.
