Holly Willoughby's Olympics-themed reality series postponed

ITV's Olympics-themed reality series The Real Games is postponed by a year after Tokyo 2020 was delayed until 2021.

ITV has delayed Olympics-themed reality show The Real Games by a year due to the coronavirus pandemic.

The series - hosted by Holly Willoughby and Freddie Flintoff - will see a host of celebrities participating in a series of Olympics events.

ITV originally planned to air the show this summer as a buildup to the real Olympics in Tokyo but after the Games were officially postponed by a year due to COVID-19, The Real Games has followed suit.

"The ongoing pandemic has been a nightmare for TV shows and schedulers and moving The Real 2020 Games was no exception," a source told The Sun.

"Holly and Freddie's contracts have been redrawn, along with their co-star Alex Scott's, and it took some planning. These three are key to the show's success, as they are such big names and were a perfect fit for hosting the Games. So the team making the show went all out to secure them again in 2021.

"Their schedules are all very busy and since a lot of shows are being delayed until next year, it took a lot of effort to get all the ducks in a row."

The show is a reworking of Channel 4 reality series The Games, which aired from 2003 to 2006.
