Spice Girls star Mel B says that she has been informed that Glastonbury has been cancelled for 2021.

Spice Girls singer Mel B has claimed that Glastonbury has been called off for a second successive year.

The 50th anniversary edition of the music and arts festival was scrapped last summer due to coronavirus, while this year's rearranged festival had also been under threat due to a sharp rise in cases and the large timeframe required to get the population vaccinated.

Appearing on Radio 5 Live today, Mel B said that she had been informed today of Glastonbury's cancellation - suggesting that the Spice Girls had been lined up to perform.

"Hopefully the restrictions get lifted so we can all enjoy life a bit more and go somewhat back to normal," she said. "Us Spice Girls were hopefully planning some time soon - if we can - another tour that we've all been talking about.

"It's going to be our 25th anniversary this year, so it's a big one. I know that Glastonbury's been cancelled so a lot of stage performances are kind of on hold again this year, which is sad but we've got to get this virus under control I guess."

The host then remarked that Glastonbury has not yet announced a cancellation, prompting her to add: "No, they did today, unfortunately."

Organiser Emily Eavis recently revealed that a decision on whether to proceed with Glastonbury in 2021 would need to be taken soon.
