Dominic Brunt - aka Emmerdale favourite Paddy Kirk - is forced to miss filming after catching coronavirus.

Emmerdale star Dominic Brunt has revealed that he has been forced to call in sick for the first time in his 25 years on the show.

The 51-year-old, who has played fan favourite Paddy Kirk since 1997, will miss filming this week after he tested positive for coronavirus.

Writing on Twitter, he said: "After 25 years at @emmerdale without a single day off, I have succumbed to the dreaded 'rona. I have been ridiculously careful but tomorrow will be be the first time in a quarter of a century.

"Now THAT pisses me off. Fortunate to have good health though and thankful. Love to all."

Paddy is currently involved in a storyline that has seen his best friend Marlon (Mark Charnock) suffer a stroke.

Emmerdale continues weeknights at 7.30pm on ITV.
