In Pictures: EastEnders' first day back of filming

Check out pictures from the first day back of filming on EastEnders following the coronavirus shutdown.

After more than three months of shutdown due to the coronavirus pandemic, EastEnders returned to filming on Monday with new social distancing protocols in place on set.

The soap went off air for the first time in its 35-year history earlier this month but work has now begun on new episodes, which will be shown on BBC One starting in early September.

The BBC has released the first pictures from the return to filming, which show a scene at Walford East featuring Ian, Bobby and Max, as well as what appears to be a tense encounter between Dotty and Ian at the cafe.
