Coronation Street cast member tests positive for coronavirus

Coronation Street suffers a scare as an unnamed cast member tests positive for coronavirus.

Filming on Coronation Street has been rescheduled after an unnamed cast member tested positive for coronavirus.

The news comes the day after the soap returned to its regular scheduling pattern of six episodes a week, having been forced to drop down to three a week in March because of the pandemic.

Speaking to The Guardian, an ITV spokesperson confirmed that an actor had been sent home at the end of last week after testing positive for COVID-19, prompting the filming of certain scenes to be rearranged to accommodate their absence.

"We can confirm a member of the Coronation Street team has tested positive for coronavirus," the spokesperson said.

"The protocols we have in place for such an eventuality have been implemented and the individual is now self-isolating at home.

"We believe the situation has been contained and filming continued on Monday."

Coronation Street continues Mondays, Wednesdays and Fridays on ITV.
