The Dorset hospital treating Big Brother's Nikki Grahame launches a full investigation into her death.

The hospital treating Nikki Grahame for anorexia just before her death earlier this month is subject of a full internal investigation over her case.

The much-loved Big Brother icon passed away on April 9 at the age of 38, having battled anorexia for all of her adult life.

In the months prior to her death, fans raised almost £70,000 to help get her into a private facility for treatment that could have saved her - but she was never admitted due to capacity issues and instead was being treated at the Dorset County Hospital.

Grahame was released by the hospital on April 9, despite allegedly weighing just five stone, and her body was discovered at her home the next day.

A spokeswoman for the hospital told The Sun: "Staff at the Trust were deeply saddened to learn of the death of Miss Grahame, and our thoughts are with the family and friends of Miss Grahame at this very difficult time.

"A full internal investigation into the circumstances of Miss Grahame's death is currently underway. This is in line with standard procedures following any sudden death.

"All information and findings arising from this investigation will be shared confidentially with Miss Grahame's family, and thereafter with the Coroner as part of any Coronial process.

"The Trust will do everything it can to assist the Coroner in any ongoing Coronial process."

The exact cause of Grahame's death has not been disclosed.
